Marion County Jail Release Destinations
The Marion County Sheriff's Department operates the county jail in Jasper. A bond or recognizance order can return a detainee to the community while the criminal case continues. A dismissal, acquittal, time-served entry, sentence expiration, or probation order may also end county confinement. None of those labels should be guessed from a missing roster entry.
Other exits are transfers. A person may go to TDOC for a felony sentence, another county on a hold, USMS in a federal matter, or ICE under an immigration detainer. The Marion release record should name the actual date and time, reason or authority, and receiving agency. If iSOMS shows only a date, jail staff and the booking/release sheet are the next sources. A receiving system then confirms what happened after Marion relinquished custody.

Confirm Marion County Jail Releases
The official MCSD Corrections page links to Marion's county-hosted iSOMS portal. Its last-24-hour and last-72-hour pages are mixed Intake/Release views. A new booking can appear beside an exit, so the card itself is not proof. A positive online release result has both the visual Released marker and a populated Release Date.
- Open the iSOMS choice screen and select the view that fits the known time span.
- Check all pages or use the A–Z filter. Compare name, age, intake date, arresting department, and charge data before choosing a record.
- Require the Released marker and date. Do not treat a photo, bond value, or appearance in the mixed window as an exit.
- Use the separate name form with its Released selection when the short windows do not reach the event.
- Call or request the written record for the reason and destination, since those fields were not present on observed cards.

That structure helps narrow a search, but only the underlying Marion County Jail record gives durable proof when the public result changes or ages out.

Ask for the booking/release sheet and specify full name, date of birth when appropriate, booking number, and approximate date. Request the existing fields for release time, type or authority, and receiving agency. The sheriff publishes no dedicated records form, local price sheet, release-processing schedule, or retention table. If redirected, Marion County says public-record forms come from the Mayor's Office.
Tennessee's public-records procedure requires prompt access when practicable. Otherwise, within seven business days the custodian must produce the record, deny it with a written basis, or state the extra time reasonably needed. The deadline governs response, not guaranteed completion. Request electronic copies and an estimate before costs exceed a stated limit.
State open-records guidance distinguishes inspection from copies. Inspection is ordinarily not charged unless another authority applies. The default reasonable-charge schedule uses ceilings of $0.15 for a black-and-white letter or legal page and $0.50 for color, unless actual cost supports more. An electronic delivery normally has no per-page fee except paper used for necessary redaction. These are statewide defaults, not a Marion County Jail price promise. Ask the custodian for the current policy and estimate before ordering.
Online removal does not establish destruction. The iSOMS name-search depth and the county record-retention period are both unverified. Ask whether the jail-management entry, release sheet, incident or arrest report, and booking photograph belong to separate record series. Also request the schedule and destruction date that apply to the exact series. Litigation, audit, expungement, and other legal requirements can affect handling. If part of a record is withheld, ask for the statute relied upon and any segregable nonexempt portion.
Read Marion County Jail Results
Observed iSOMS result cards contain an official booking photograph, name, age, class, race and sex, intake date, city, arresting department and officer, release date, charges, and bond amounts. Charge text reports an allegation or docket, not guilt. A booking photograph records arrest processing; it does not show the case outcome or establish that the person went home.
Bond values are tied to charges. They do not prove payment, acceptance of surety, removal of every hold, or the reason custody ended. The public card also lacks a release-reason and destination field. Pair the card with the court docket for the order or disposition and the jail sheet for the physical event. Where an entry says Released but the case remains open, both facts may be accurate.
Marion Jail to TDOC Transfer
TDOC's April 30, 2025 jail summary counted six “TDOC backup” prisoners inside Marion County Jail. The term illustrates the difference between physical housing and legal custody. A sentenced state prisoner can remain in the county building while awaiting movement into TDOC, then later appear at a classification or state facility outside Marion County.
Use TDOC FOIL when the release sheet names TDOC or the case involved a state felony sentence. Search the committed name or TOMIS number, compare date of birth and other identifiers, then read status and location. An incarcerated location means the person remains confined. Parole or probation is community supervision. Inactive is a strong former-offender lead, but the detail and release information must still be read exactly.
No state prison is located in Marion County. Bledsoe County Correctional Complex in neighboring Bledsoe County is a diagnostic prison for men entering TDOC, but not every Marion transfer can be assumed to pass through it. The named FOIL location controls. For county-only bond, dismissal, or misdemeanor events, FOIL may contain no record at all.
Marion Jail ICE Release Records
A record that says “released to ICE” describes a transfer into immigration custody. It does not show community release. Ask Marion County for the transfer date, receiving agency, and any destination recorded. Then use ICE's public locator with the A-number and country of birth when known or the exact identity route. ICE offers limited recently released information for roughly 60 days, so prompt checking matters.
The same source discipline applies to USMS or another county. Switch only to the custodian named in the release sheet. A later ICE, federal, state, or county release is a new event with its own record. It should not be collapsed into the date Marion ended custody. If no receiving agency is published, request the transfer document rather than infer a destination.
Marion County Jail Facility Changes
The MCSD Corrections page credits corrections staff with helping transition from the old jail to “our new facility.” Local reporting also documents an expansion-project change order. Those sources support a recent facility-change statement, but they do not establish an opening date or a new capacity. The current sheriff address remains the reliable contact point.
TDOC's April 30, 2025 one-day snapshot reported 101 people and 118 beds, or 85.6 percent capacity. It also listed local felons, pretrial felony and misdemeanor detainees, convicted misdemeanants, and TDOC backups. These are dated population facts, not a current count, annual release total, or average stay.

Marion Adult and Juvenile Records
Adult iSOMS access does not cover Marion's temporary juvenile holding resource. Juvenile case and custody details are confidential. An authorized parent, guardian, attorney, or other proper party must use Juvenile Court or the responsible agency. No one should search adult release windows as though they were a missing juvenile archive.
