Marion County VINE Record Coverage
Tennessee uses VINE and its public VINELink interface for custody information and event notifications. The state added the TDOC population in 2021 and said many county jails already participated. That creates layers rather than one combined lifetime record. A Marion County Jail detainee must be matched to the county agency record. A person in a Tennessee prison must be matched to the TDOC-fed record.
VINE can show the reporting agency, custody status, and location available for the matched record. It can also offer registration for release and custody-change events. It is not an indefinite archive of every person who left custody. A missing result proves very little. Spelling, agency scope, transfer, delayed data, confidentiality, or a record outside the covered system can all explain a no-match.
Federal Bureau of Prisons custody is outside Tennessee VINE's state and county scope. Use the BOP locator for a sentenced federal prisoner. Federal pretrial custody may require the court or U.S. Marshals route. Immigration detention has its own ICE locator. No BOP or dedicated ICE facility was verified inside Marion County.
Search Marion County Inmates on VINE
Open the official Tennessee VINELink search and work from the known custody path. Search the full legal or committed name first. An offender ID can narrow the match when one is known. If several records share a name, compare the agency, identifiers, custody status, and location before opening or registering on a result.
- Choose Tennessee and begin a person search.
- Enter the full name or offender ID without assuming the first match is correct.
- Compare the holding agency and any displayed identity fields.
- Open the matching record and read the current custody status and location.
- Note the agency and access time before using the result to confirm elsewhere.
A county jail record and a TDOC record for the same person may reflect different parts of the custody chain. If Marion's iSOMS says the person left the jail and the TDOC result shows an incarcerated location, the event was a transfer into state custody. The Marion County released inmate search places VINE beside iSOMS, FOIL, court, federal, and records-request channels for a full named-person check.
The successful manifest capture comes from the official Tennessee VINE interface.
The search screen is the entry point. Always confirm the live labels and selected agency before relying on a result.
Marion County VINE Release Fields
The exact fields depend on the participating agency and record. VINE research supports a focused set of functions, not a promise that every result carries a full jail or sentence history. Read the matched record as an agency-specific custody report.
| VINE item | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Name or offender ID | Search and match information; compare other identifiers before selecting. |
| Reporting agency | The county jail or TDOC feed responsible for that event. |
| Custody status | The status reported by the participating agency, subject to timing and scope. |
| Location | The reporting custody location, not a complete history of later moves. |
| Release or custody-change event | A notice that the selected agency reported a change; it may be a transfer. |
| Notification channel | The phone, text, email, TTY, or app option offered during registration. |
VINE does not replace the source record. For a Marion County jail exit, the iSOMS Release Date and Released marker provide the official public web indication, while jail staff and the booking/release sheet can supply time, reason, and destination. For a state prisoner, TDOC FOIL can show status, location, sentence, parole-hearing, and release information as available.
Register Marion County Release Alerts
Registration begins from the correctly matched person record. Select the notification option and choose the release or custody-change events offered. Then select a delivery channel. VINE may offer phone, text, email, TTY, or app notification. Available choices can vary, so follow the current interface rather than expecting every method on every record.
- Open the matched county or TDOC record.
- Select notifications and choose the offered release or custody-change event.
- Pick phone, text, email, TTY, or app as available.
- Enter and confirm the destination for that channel.
- Complete the code, link, account, or phone PIN confirmation shown by VINE.
Traditional automated phone registration asks for a four-digit receipt PIN. That PIN confirms receipt and stops repeat calls. It is not the person's offender number. Text, email, and app paths may instead use a code, link, or account confirmation. Keep registration contact details and the receipt PIN private. VINE support is available at 888-868-4631.
Note: Registration is free and confidential, but an alert still needs verification with the reporting jail, TDOC, or receiving custodian.
Marion County Uses Layered VINE Feeds
Tennessee's addition of TDOC data to VINE makes custodian selection unusually important for Marion County. County iSOMS follows Marion jail activity. TDOC VINE follows state corrections events. A transfer can close or change the county record and produce a later event under the state feed. Treating both as one uninterrupted source can turn a handoff into a false claim of community release.
After an alert, write down the timestamp, event, and reporting agency. For a county event, inspect iSOMS for the Release Date and marker, then ask jail staff whether the destination was the community or another agency. For a state event, inspect FOIL and contact TDOC when a durable state record is required. If the new custodian is another county, use that county's official system rather than guessing from a nearby location.
- County feed
- The participating jail's custody data for a local booking or confinement.
- TDOC feed
- State corrections data for a felony offender in custody or supervision.
- Custodian
- The agency with legal or physical control of the person at that point.
- Transfer
- A move between custodians, not release to the community.
Marion County Detainer Release Alerts
TDOC Policy 511.03 draws a useful line between release types. Its notification material distinguishes release type and date, sentence expiration, and release on a detainer to a Tennessee county facility. A detainer is a hold from another authority. When TDOC hands a person to a county jail on such a hold, the state release event is not a return home.
The policy directs recipients toward SAVIN after a county handoff. This shows why the receiving agency matters. Confirm the TDOC event in FOIL or with TDOC, identify the receiving county, and then use that county's custody or notification record. The process works in reverse as well. A VINE event from Marion County may be followed by a state, federal, immigration, or another county record.
Marion County VINE Search Limits
VINE depends on data from the participating agency. A status can lag the event, and the service is not a permanent release archive. Search variations may help with a spelling issue, but repeated no-results still do not prove that no custody or release occurred. Check the system's scope first. Marion iSOMS may hold the county record, FOIL may hold a state felony record, and a court file may explain the order even when VINE returns nothing.
The TBI Sex Offender Registry is not a replacement VINE search. It applies only to people with a legal duty to register and serves a specialized public purpose. A registry update is not a release date. Other TBI registries also have narrow statutory populations. Absence from one says nothing general about Marion County jail custody, state custody, or a past release. Use a registry only when its exact scope is relevant.
Urgent safety choices should not rest on VINE alone. After receiving an alert, confirm with the reporting agency and follow any official instructions. For a Marion jail event, staff can state whether the person remains physically held and can route a request for the written record. For a TDOC event, FOIL and the relevant corrections office supply the state status. VINE support can help with the alert service, but it is not the custodian of the jail or corrections record.
Federal and immigration custody require another route. A past date or “Not in BOP Custody” in the federal locator means Bureau custody ended, not that all custody or supervision ended. ICE ODLS covers current detention and only limited recent-release information. A Marion notation showing release to ICE marks a transfer, and any later ICE release is a separate event.
Confirm Marion County VINE Events
A VINE alert is a prompt to check the source. For Marion County Jail, use the county's exact 24-hour or 72-hour iSOMS view and require both the visible Released marker and populated Release Date. Call 423-942-8012 or 423-939-3450 if the event is urgent or unclear. Ask whether the person is physically held now, and whether the recorded exit was a community release or a transfer.
For state custody, use TDOC FOIL. Its public scope includes current and former felony offenders and may show status, location, offense, sentence, parole-hearing, photograph, and release information. Parole eligibility or a Board hearing does not prove an actual exit. Likewise, “parole” or “probation” describes community supervision, not unconditional discharge.
| Alert source | Confirmation route |
|---|---|
| Marion County Jail | iSOMS marker/date, jail staff, and booking/release or transfer sheet. |
| TDOC | FOIL status/location plus TDOC record or facility confirmation. |
| Another county | The named receiving jail's official custody system and record. |
| Federal or ICE notation | BOP, federal court/USMS, or ICE ODLS as the case requires. |
No match is not proof of release. Report only what the systems checked show as of the access date, and preserve the reporting agency's exact status terms.
Keep the alert timestamp with the source record. That small step helps separate the first automated notice from the later agency confirmation and any receiving-custodian update.
